Survey Of The European Fabric Fairs For Autumn/winter 2010/11

The European fabric fairs for the autumn/winter 2010/11 season took place against a background of difficult trading conditions. Some Italian fabric manufacturers reported a drop in sales of around 30% in the first four months of 2009, and a fall in exports to the USA of up to 50%. With one exception, the depressing economic climate was reflected in the size of the fairs in terms of exhibitors and visitor numbers. Companies are restricting their travel budgets and sending smaller buying teams to these events. Buyers are placing smaller orders while they wait to see how trade develops. The one exception was Munich’s Fabric Start, a fair which has been gaining steadily in importance in recent years. In this business environment, it might be expected that fabric manufacturers would play safe and restrict their investment in new ideas. But that is far from being the case. The most striking impression to emerge from the two main European fairs, Milano Unica and Première Vision, was the creativity and innovation of the products on show. One interesting change is that fabrics are gaining weight. For some time, fabric manufacturers have been striving towards lightness and airiness. But now fabrics—woolens in particular—are becoming more compact, firmer and heavier. Another strong trend is an old idea, rather than a new one. Country tweeds in traditional patterns and colors, a style summed up as the “British look”, are very much in vogue. UK mills which specialize in producing modern versions of these classic fabrics were among the most upbeat of exhibitors. Moreover, UK mills are being given an advantage over their European competitors by the weakness of sterling relative to the Euro.

Tips On How To Wear Autumn/Winter Trends 2010/11 For Women

Tips On How To Wear Autumn/Winter Trends 2010/11 For Women

Do you want to be wearing this season’s trends whilst staying stylish and not be a fashion victim?

The only way to achieve this is to be conscious of your body shape and dress accordingly. So here are a few guidelines on how to wear some of this season’s trends.

COLOUR – Wearing the right colour can takes years off. So what do you do when this season’s colours aren’t right for you? You mix them with shades which are right and always wear these shades nearest to your face. The main colour trends are:

* Camel – a very stylish classic colour, especially good for women with warm complexions. Blend with autumnal accent colours such as browns and rusts for soft warm complexions. On warm bright complexions team with bright warm colours such as gold, creams and corals or a bold pattern such as leopard print.  If you have a cool, high contrasting colouring then team with dark navy (another on trend colour). The camel colour can look striking on blonde women with warm highlights such as honey and caramel, but can also look good on cool blondes if teamed with off white or pale pink.

*Navy – navy is the new black. It has the same properties as black i.e. can be slimming, but is not as harsh on the complexion. The trend is to be a very dark navy and this is best on women with cool bright complexions. Women with warm dark complexions can also wear dark navy, but the navy needs to be more muted rather than bright and bold. For the paler complexions a faded navy would be more complimentary.

*Army green – another classic neutral colour. Compliments warm and muted complexions the best, but neutral enough to team with berry shades to suit your own particular colouring.

FABRICS/DESIGNS & PATTERNS – consider your body shape and proportions when choosing fabrics, designs and patterns.

* Fabric trends are knitwear, fur, leather and lace.

Knitwear is not just restricted to cardigans and jumpers this season, but also dresses and skirts so you can cocoon yourself from top to bottom. Oversized jumpers and chunky knits will add bulk and are better on the slim boyish figures. For the curvier or fuller figure layered fine knits are better, or the retro twin set with pearls.  Polo necks will be on trend, but for the larger bust add a long necklace to break the space.  Polo necks will shorten long necks and oblong shaped faces.

Fur (real and fake) will be not just for coats and jackets, but for leg warmers, boots, handbags, scarves, hats and even as embellishments.  Textures will vary from long shaggy yeti style to short chunky teddy bear style. Patterns will be plain, chevron and animal print. Most furs are usually bulky and so will draw attention to that particular area.  For the slim boy shaped figure, wearing a thin leather belt around the fur coat/jacket will add curves. For the curvier, fuller figure go for just fur trimming (only in the areas you want to bring attention to), fur stoles or look for thinner less bulky fur coats/jackets.

If you are not in to wearing leather pants, dresses or skirts, then go for clothing with just the leather trimmings or panels. Shearling will be big for jackets and boots giving the classic aviator look especially if teamed with skinny pants or a calf length slim pencil skirt. Shearling is also good at keeping you warm and cosy in the winter months without overheating.

Lace, a popular trend this summer, will continue in to autumn/ winter. Stiffer lace looks better on the straight boyish figure, keep the softer finer lace for the curvier figure.

*Pattern trend is florals and animal prints. The placement of the pattern depends on what you want to bring attention to. If you have large hips you will probably not want attention drawn to this area, therefore the pattern should be on the top half in order to draw the eye away from the hips.

* Design trend is heavy embroidery, beadings, feathers and pleating. Remember these will add bulk and will draw the eye to that area.

BELTS – Thin belts. A girl’s best friend as is much kinder to short waisted women than a wide belt.

HAIRBANDS – give the 60′s feel which is on trend.  Wear with fringe if face shape long, without if face shape round.

HANDBAGS – No shoulder bags, the trend will be to carry structured handbags in the hand or over the elbow. Look elegant and get the trendy 50′s look by wearing with gloves.

JEWELLERY – The trend is still to wear a large statement piece, especially the necklace. But remember to wear only one large statement piece unless your bone structure is large. Pearls add to the retro look.  If you have angular facial features, choose jewellery with angular details e.g. squares, triangles. If you have softer contoured features, choose circles and ovals for the detail. Also consider your face shape when choosing jewellery.E.g a round face will look good in longer earrings as they will lengthen the face, round earrings will only emphasise the roundness of the face.

JACKETS/COATS – A variety of styles to suit all tastes and body shapes: the Aviator style with shearling collars, the plain understated military styles and the classic camel coat. Capes are also on trend from long flowing cloaks to short capelets

DRESSES/SKIRTS –A-line skirts just above the knee, a flattering shape and a flattering length for most women. If you don’t like showing your knees then go for the wide full 50′s skirts which stops just below the knee. Both these shapes are great for the curvier figure as nip in the waist but also can camouflage the straighter boyish figure. The longer 50′s look can make your legs look slimmer whilst the shorter A-line skirt will lengthen your legs.

SHOES – Flats or low heels are the trend.  Combined with the calf length dresses, this is only good news for the tall ladies who want to look smaller .So in order to make the legs look longer you need to rely on other tricks such as: wearing the same colour for your tights and shoes, keeping the shoe front low, wear pointed toes, no ankle straps and keep the shoe free of accessories such as bows etc.

Silk Scarves in 2010 Autumn

Silk Scarves in 2010 Autumn

Autumn is coming. In 2010, what kind of scarves will be popular? Still the long kerchief or something else? The trend is the lighter the scarves is the better.

As we know that the function of scarves is not the main reason for ladies to choose scarves. Years ago, scarves had been chosen for accessories for ornament. But many people still focus on their function of keep warm, keep out the wind and sunshade. In fact, scarves function really lies in matching with the color and to be accessories. If you agree with this point, you should pay more attention on it. Many ladies would go shopping for a coat or a pair of shoes for hours but seldom would do it like this for a scarves.

Some people believe that heavy scarves will be more expensive. Actually, it is not the case. The weight of the scarves depends on the material. The real good material is smooth and soft, for example, soft chiffon is the most popular type in recent days.

The next aspect is the size: the longer the better or not? Every year, the length of the scarves would be different as every year’s trend. In 2010 autumn, what length will be suitable? It is said that the length between 150cm to 180cm will be the best scarves.

In addition, the designing and color will be another important aspect. Here we have a tip. Some famous brand scarves is designed for foreigners, and they look beautiful with the scarves. But the case is not the same to ladies in our country for the height, skin color, color of hair and temperament. When you decide to buy a scarves, please remember to try it before you pay for it. Nowadays, some famous brand would consider this condition in designing and making scarves. Different styles of scarves become unnecessary elements for ladies. Especially some simple and grace clothing need match with sorts of scarves to shoe the elegant details. The ancient white color and nude color are very popular this year, in this case, some scarves are needed to make the point.

All above is the point about scarves. We can not simply say which style or what color is good. One should match it with the wearing and the certain guy’s looking. Follow these points, I think one can buy the proper silk scarves.

Prima Donna Autumn Winter Review 2010

Category : Autumn

Prima Donna Autumn Winter Review 2010

After a spring summer filled with gorgeous blues, whites and peaches the new autumnal Prima Donna will soon be on its way.  The collection is filled with rich warm colours that have developed from the strong presence of reds and purples from 09 to more muted soft tones.

The collection combines some re-colourings as well as new designs.  The hugely popular Alexandrie from the spring summer collection has been brought out in a chocolate with subtle orange accents.  It works well with the delicate floral embroidery and is really shown off the unique double spaghetti strap which proved some popular in the summer.   The Atlantis is the other range that has benefited from a re-colouring.  The paisley kasmir motif looks particularly eye catching in the ice grey and I think it is more eye-catching than any of the previous colours from last winter.  The embroidery looks striking against the sheer tulle.

As beautiful as the re-colouring are they just don’t elicit the same anticipation as the new ranges.  There are three new ranges with something for every Prima Donna fan.  The Copenhagen is a timeless classic in a transparent tulle with subtle colour accented embroidery. It is available in the traditional full cup, balcony and even a smooth cup shaper.  More and more of the ranges are featuring the popular shaper bra and with this range coming in black, white and grey it is a great alternative to the satin shaper bra.

If you prefer a little more colour in your winter wardrobe the Stockholm is a good place to start.  With the choice of red, black with cerise embroider of the ocean blue it’s difficult to choose between them.  Red will undoubtedly do well over the Christmas period but I think the black is my favourite because of the contrast in the embroidery.  The pretty cerise floral embroidery really pops against the sheer black tulle.  The range features the stunning tulip cut balcony bra.  This is a contemporary cut and has proven to be very popular with the Plums Lingerie customers, it was first seen last winter in the Prima Donna Oz and is now making an appearance in more and more ranges.

Every season there is a collection that is their seasonal special, it’s the series that takes your breath away, combining beautiful design with the most gorgeous colours.  This winter that title is held by the Helsinki.  It so amazingly glamorous and uses a new technique giving the embroidery a semblance of a shadow effect. It’s the range that has the luxury balcony bra with vertical seaming to give a lower cut while still giving the perfect amount of support.   I already have my eye on the basque however this season it only goes up to the F cup.  This is a tad disappointing but the bra does go all the way to the 44H.  The Helsinki epitomises the muted tones that define this autumn winter.  The strong purples from last year have been replaced with a softer midnight violet and the ocean blue as seen in the Stockholm is echoed in the empire green.

The ranges from Prima Donna this season are as strong as ever but it is disappointing that none of the ranges have a suspender belt included.  I expect that the Stockholm will do exceptionally well with the black proving to be the most popular but will probably have something to do with it being my favourite.  The Stockholm will surely feature on quite a few lists to Santa so ladies it’s time to make sure you’ve been a good girl.

Five Tips Make Your Skin Far Away From Being Rough and Chapped When Travel in Autumn

Autumn is the best tourist season due to its moderate climate, but the dryness becomes the greatest enemy the travelers have to contend with, if not to protect your skin well, it will easily get rough and chapped and even suffer from seborrhoeic skin disease, affecting appearance. Five tips will leave your skin away from being rough and chapped when travel in autumn.

1. With the increase of exercise volume on trip, the quantity of secretion in the body increases, so the sweat and oil on face also increase. If you can not wipe them off in time, after being assailed by wind and sun, your skin will become black and rough. Therefore, you should pay attention to keep the skin clean. Preferably use warm water and skin care toilet soap to wash, then smooth a touch of cream.

2. You should eat more vegetables and fruits on trip to increase vitamins and various minerals in your body, which can efficiently prevent the skin from dryness and wrinkling.

3. Wash your face when getting up in the morning. At night, you can use face cloth to remove excess oil and dirt from inner pore of skin, or use scrub cream to remove the aging corneum.

4. You’d better wear a hat to shade you from the sunburn and appropriately rub the sunscreen containing ketone.

5. Having a photo taken as a memento on trip is an absolute must, only to put on just a little makeup and remember to clean up cosmetics before falling asleep.

You have nothing to worry about as long as you get the 5 tips, which will make you stay young-looking on trip.

Though summer has gone, autumn is still and hot. So the cooling method of your laptop is still in

Though summer has gone, autumn is still dry and hot. So the cooling method of your laptop is still in need. Namely, I should prepare something for my HP and this ZT3215 AC adapter. I hope they can work well for me and offer me convenience in daily study and working.

People always complained that the summer day is the peak time for the laptop to have troubles. That’s not exaggeration. Thus we should take care of the laptop in the other three seasons as well as the summer time. Like the autumn day, there are some problems that one should be very cautious unless you destroy your laptop. I have my ZT3215 AC adapter in the ventilated place instead of a corner. I believe that some users will leave their AC adapter in the corner after summer day has gone. It’s really a stupid idea to forget the importance of the adapter of your laptop.

In summer time, you put your laptop in a cooling pad and that helps your laptop in a good working condition. But the Indian summer is still hot. So don’t put away the cooling pad and other cooling equipments of your laptop in the hot temperature. I used to have my laptop in the air conditioner room. Though it’s not so hot as the summer day, I put an electronic fan besides us. That is helpful to keep the air circulating inside room.
In addition, there is one more killer that one should be noticed. That is the static electricity. That can ruin the CPU and cause the screen flashing. You’d better wash your hands before booting the laptop. As to the ZT3215 AC adapter, I put it in an open area far away from the plug socket in order to keep it safe.

Just treat your laptop as well as that in summer time. I believe that your laptop will continue to keep for longer time. And you won’t bother by the question that how to choose a replacement for this AC adapter. What’s more, you can enjoy better laptop working condition. It’s not the temperature that has your laptop fail to work. Instead, it’s you that have your laptop in trouble.

Autumn Crafts For Kids You Should Know About

Autumn Crafts For Kids You Should Know About

Children get bored when they have to be cooped up inside. When that is the case like it is during the fall, then you might need to look into Autumn crafts for kids. There are many crafts that you can do. Therefore, here are a few of those that you should look into.

One of our favorites is going outside to gather leaves. The children love doing this. Then, what we like doing is making imprints of the leaves and other cool designs. You get some paint and some paper, and then you dip the leaves in paint and press the painted side onto the paper.

Many of us think about the Indians and Thanksgiving when we think about the fall. That is our favorite meal. Here is a way that your children can complete crafts and you can use up any old buttons. Take some construction paper and roll it up making a corn cob. Then, instead of making your own kernels, you use buttons to glue them on and they become the kernels on your craft cob.

There is one that we really like. It is an edible turkey. You might think the turkey is edible but make a turkey out of an apple, marshmallows, candy corn, and raisins. You will also need toothpicks. Well you poke the toothpicks in the apple. Make a row of four tooth picks and then one toothpick in front of the row so that it looks like feathers and then room for a head. On the feathers, you just place three or four raisins and then top with a marshmallow, just stick them in the raisins. Then on the face you put a marshmallow and then push two raisins into the marshmallow for the eyes and the beak is the candy corn.

Something else you can use which you have at your home is macaroni. If you have some string and you have some macaroni, you can make some jewelry. They like it because they learn to thread things through and it works their fingers. Plus, it keeps them busy.

All of these are things that many have done. They are fun to try and complete for both parents and their children. Lets face it, some of them are just plain cute as well. So, look at these and get what you need. They are not something that once you are done you have to wonder what to do with them.

Mid-autumn Festival, a time for joy and cheer

Category : Autumn

Mid-autumn Festival, a time for joy and cheer

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Cake Festival is a widely celebrated festival in many parts of China. In Xiamen the festival is held with great joy and enthusiasm. This festival is celebrated on the eighth lunar month’s 15th day, which usually occurs in October in the western calendar.

Every native family in Xiamen joyously involves itself in the celebrations, and since it is a time for family reunion family members living in other areas come home to join in the celebrations. Restaurants and hotels prepare special festive meals for the season, and everyone competes to make the best moon cakes, the focus of the celebrations. Moon cakes are a distinctive Chinese delicacy, made with both sweet and savoury fillings. The taste, texture and the quality of the filings are the criteria used to judge the moon cake.

In Xiamen large packs of moon cakes are sold – with each package including a set of dice. Participants take part in the game which resembles gambling so as to determine who wins which moon cake, Often manufacturers will include a set of rules for the sport in every pack of moon cakes. Each set consists of 63 differently sized moon cakes and the game’s winners are conferred the names of the ranks of imperial officials. The ultimate winner is called ‘Zhuangyuan’ and is entitled to the largest moon cake. The visitor who strolls the streets of Xiamen during this season will hear the sound of dice rolling everywhere in the city.

The origins of the Mid-autumn Festival are shrouded in legend. Popular tradition has it that in years past ten suns rose in the sky each day, searing crops and land and driving the people into poverty. A superhuman hero Hou Yi shot down the unnecessary suns with his bow, saving the inhabitants of the land. After this feat which gained him great popularity and reverence Wangmu, Empress of Heaven bestowed an elixir on him which granted celestial life and immortality; however Hou Yi, reluctant to part with his loving wife Chang E gave it to her for safekeeping.

A deceitful villain Peng Meng attempted to steal the elixir, but rather than surrendering the potion to evil, Chang E consumed it herself. When Hou Yi returned the distraught hero saw his wife’s image on the moon, but was unable to reach her. In Chang E’s memory, all the people began to pray to her for peace and good fortune. In this way the worship of the moon is said to have begun.

For the traveller who seeks a quality Xiamen hotel, the obvious choice is the Millennium Harbourview Hotel Xiamen. This excellent hotel in Xiamen offers luxurious accommodation and attentive service ensuring a pleasurable stay.

Fruit May Become the Stumbling Block on Your Trip in Autumn

Fruit May Become the Stumbling Block on Your Trip in Autumn

As the coolness of autumn has replaced the heat of summer, people’s fidgety emotion is becoming calm. The charming scenery and moderate climate make autumn a best season of travel. Fruit is your close companion on your trip, but which may become your stumbling block if you eat it in the wrong way.

1. Apple

Apple juice can stop diarrhea and eating it after the meal can help digestion. But the apple is rich in carbohydrates and potassium, eating too much is not conductive to heart and kidney, so people suffering from coronary heart disease, nephritis and diabetes shouldn’t eat more.

2. Pear

Pear is good for stopping cough, reducing phlegm and quieting nerves. Because it’s cold in nature, people suffering from deficient cold of spleen and stomach had better eat carefully. In addition, its sugar content is high, so the diabetes should eat less.

3. Orange

Orange contains a lot of carotene. After entering the blood, the carotene will be converted into Vitamin A, which is stored in the body, leading to the skin yellowing, and then you may feel nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, malaise and other syndrome.

4. Persimmon

Containing a lot of Vitamin A, C, tannin and rich nutrition, persimmon has the effect of step-down, clearing heat, moistening lung. But it also contains a lot of pectin, which meets the stomach acid, will form persimmon stone in stomach, leading to stomachache and indigestion.

5. Pomegranate

Containing large amounts of fructose and a variety of vitamins and minerals, pomegranate avails against dysentery and pharyngitis. But you should not eat more in case of wounding teeth and anorexia.
